Driver Education at Arizona Motorsports Park

by Paul Koreneff

It’s time for a track event, with the Arizona Porsche Club!

Come meet us at Arizona Motorsports Park for a day of fun and give your BMW some proper exercise!

If you haven’t experienced a track day before, you are really missing out! This is a safe, controlled, environment where you can learn how properly drive your BMW at high speeds. Some of the things that we will be teaching include car control, when to brake, turn, etc and how to handle the grin that comes from driving your BMW the way it was meant to be driven!

If this is your first visit to the track, then please sign-up for HPDE 1.

If you have been to the track before, then go ahead and sign-up for HPDE 2.

* An instructor is automatically provided for HPDE 1. If you would like an instructor for HPDE 2 then make sure you check the box to request an instructor.

— You must sign up for this event on the PCA’s page on MotorsportReg.com (use the button below) and also please register with us below so we can ensure a spot will be reserved for you. —

NOTE: If you have, or are considering owning, your own helmet then please be aware that Snell 2005 helmets are no longer able to be used for these events. You must replace it with a Snell 2010 or Snell 2015 helmet. If you are considering purchasing a helmet, then we recommend going straight to a Snell 2015 since they are legal for an additional 5 years past the Snell 2010’s and there is not much of a price difference. The Porsche club also has loaner helmets available on a first-come first-served basis, at the track

Autocross at Arizona Motorsports Park

by Paul Koreneff

Come sharpen your driving skills during the AZ PCA autocross at Arizona Motorsports Park Skidpad. There will be instructors available for first timers. Non Porsches are welcome to participate. $60 for the event if prepaid, otherwise $80 if paid on site.

Bring a helmet if you can, because the number of loaner helmets is extremely limited. Also bring folding chairs, drinks (water!), snacks and/or lunch, sun block, and a hat. Pat the Hot Dog Lady will be serving a hot dog lunch to all pre-registered drivers.

Gates open at 7:00 am. First car out at 9:00 am. Safety inspection forms will be available on site. (sorry but no go-karts, Polaris type, formula or other exoskeleton vehicles permitted). AMP has a strict sound limit and your vehicle must pass sound tech held immediately before the event (around 8:00 am) or have a valid AMP sound sticker and no changes to the car impacting sound have been made since.

Other things to do: Check your vehicle seat belts. No fraying or tears; Fill your tires to 2-3 lbs over the factory settings; Check your tire pressure throughout the day; Bring an extra quart of oil just in case; Check your oil level throughout the day.

Please register with the PCA for the event using the link to motorsportsreg.com provided below in order to reserve your spot! Also, please click the Register for Event button below to let the Roadrunner Chapter know you are attending.

**Note that this is not an event hosted by Roadrunner BMW CCA, rather it is an event that we are attending in support of the automotive community.**
