Mount Lemmon Picnic Fun Run

Roadrunner BMW CCA will be partnering with our Sonoran Chapter brethren for another event, a run up beautiful Mt. Lemmon in Tucson, AZ! This is a great opportunity to beat the heat by driving up the mountain for a picnic lunch!
DON’T FORGET: Hat, Sunglasses, Sunscreen, Water, Cash (for lift tickets)

The group will depart, caravan style, promptly at 8:30am and head down to Tucson via I-10. Upon arrival in Tucson, there will be an opportunity to refuel when we meet up with the Sonoran Chapter members. From there, we will depart for Mt. Lemmon by 11:00am. Once at the summit, there will be a 2 hour window to eat, do some sight seeing, socialize, and take the chair lift to the top. Lift tickets to the top of Mt. Lemmon are $15.00.
Our picnic lunch is targeted at 12:00pm and will be Subway sandwiches and drinks.  Please bring an accompanying side item such as salad, chips, and cookies. Be sure to tell us if you require a Vegetarian sandwich.
There will be a drive leader, as well as a secondary group coordinator, to keep the group together and help ensure safe travels for our members and the general public.

Copper Corridor Loop Fun Run

Do you love driving, socializing, and great food? Then come join us for a group drive through the Copper Corridor Loop and then a break for lunch at the Copper Bistro in Globe, AZ. The restaurant is on the way in to town.

The group will depart, caravan style, promptly at 9:30am and head over through the Copper Corridor Loop via AZ-177 with a stop in Winkelman, AZ for fuel and restroom break at the Shell station where AZ-177 and AZ-77 meet. We will make an additional stop at Pinal Pass for photos. There will be a drive leader, as well as a secondary group coordinator, to keep the group together and help ensure safe travels for our members and the general public.

We will then proceed up Yarnell Hill, through Yarnell to Kirkland Valley and Bagdad. Fountain Hills Fun Run

Join us for a Sunday drive to Euro Pizza Café (Fountain Hills)

If you begin at starting point 1 it will be a total of 65 miles, if you begin at starting point 2 it will be a total of 45 miles.

The group will depart, caravan style, promptly at 9:00am and head out to Cracker Barrel (via 101 South) with a stop at Cracker Barrel to meet up with the second group.

The group will depart, caravan style, promptly at 9:30am and head up to Fountain Hills.  There will be a drive leader, as well as a secondary group coordinator, to keep the group together and help ensure safe travels for our members and the general public.

We will then make our way (via 202 East and McKellips Road) to Usery Pass Road and then Bush Hwy with a stop at Water Users Recreation Site for a short break before heading to Fountain Hills (via Bush Hwy and AZ 87 South).

The drive officially ends at the restaurant.

The lunch menu is varied and includes salads, soups, wraps, gyros, and pizza. It is also reasonably priced and can be found here

Prescott Fun Run

Do you love driving, socializing, and good food? Then come join us for a group drive up to Prescott and then lunch at Streets of New York Pizza. The restaurant has a large parking lot where we may even be able to get the cars parked together and do a bit of socializing. If you just can’t get enough of the curves, there will also be a group heading back down through Skull Valley to Phoenix.

Jerome Fun Run

Join us as we celebrate The New Year and make our way to the Mile High Grill & Inn in Jerome Arizona’s premiere ghost town where we will be the special guests of Chef Alex Colaianni. Because of parking restrictions we must limit participation to the first 25 cars that register.

The group will depart, caravan style, promptly at 9:30am and head North up Interstate 17 to Jerome, AZ through Prescott Valley, with a stop for fuel and a restroom break at the Shell station on the east side of the Cordes Junction exit (262). From there, we will continue up to the Mile High Grill, via AZ-89A.

Located high on top of Cleopatra Hill (5,200 feet) between Prescott and Flagstaff is the historic copper mining town of Jerome, Arizona. Once known as the wickedest town in the west, Jerome was a copper mining camp, growing from a settlement of tents to a roaring mining community.

Built in 1899, the Clinkscale Building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. (Jerome Historic District, 66000196). These walls have seen it all. Undertakers, madams, a candy store and even a ghost kitty have all resided here at one point or another.

Route 66 Fun Run

Then come join us for a group drive up to Winslow, Arizona for great photo opportunities at Standin’ on the Corner Park commemorating the song “Take It Easy“, written by Jackson Browne and Glenn Frey, and, most famously, recorded by the Eagles.

The group will depart, caravan style, promptly at 8:30am and head up AZ-87 N to Flagstaff, AZ through Payson, AZ, with a stop for fuel and a restroom break at the Shell station by The Home Depot, just north of Payson past the roundabout. From there, we will continue up to the The Turquoise Room Restaurant, via AZ-87 N.

 

The Turquoise Room is one of the southwest’s unique restaurants, providing a mesmerizing interpretation of Arizona food. Treat yourself at this hidden oasis and discover a wonderful road restaurant and explore Winslow hotel – La Posada.  Designed in the late 1920s for Fred Harvey by architect Mary Colter, who considered it her masterpiece, the hotel was closed for 40 years before being fully and lovingly restored and reopened in 1998. Near a busy rail line but surrounded by very pleasant gardens, the luxurious hotel is also home to a stylish cocktail bar and one of the finest restaurants for miles.
