Drive Four Corners with the Rocky Mountain Chapter

by Paul Koreneff

Come one, come all, to the largest annual mountain BMW gathering in the Rocky Mountain Region! The intent is to create an event that cultivates a community of BMW owners in the Rocky Mountain region and beyond; a place for enthusiasts to gain a sense of community that celebrates our cars just as much as it celebrates those who own them.

If you’re looking for a way to beat the heat in Arizona, this summer, and need an excuse for a weekend getaway then look no further.  BMW CCA members and non-members are welcome, and come from all over the Southwest.

This year the event will be based at the Grand Lodge, Mount Crested Butte, CO and will drive various daily routes in that neighborhood. The cost is $100 per person and the selection of each day’s activity is on the registration page.

The Roadrunner Chapter is planning to arrange a caravan for those that will be driving up from Arizona.  Details on the caravan will be forwarded to those that use the Chapter “Register for Event!” button below.

Payson Fun Run

by Paul Koreneff

Join us for a relaxing drive to Payson for a nice mid-morning break at Culver’s. We will park in the back of the Culver’s parking lot to exchange stories. You will then have plenty of time for other activities …

What you need to bring:

  • A smiling face and cheery disposition
  • Stories on how you have handled life during the stay at home order
  • Your appreciation of the BMW brand – its good points and its not so good points
  • A cloth mask that effectively filters the air you breath, but that allows you to converse. Of course you will need to take it off in order to eat and drink and even when driving. We encourage you to wear it at all other times.
  • A chair to sit on (standing on chairs, especially folding chairs, is not always good for your health)
  • A hat, so that you keep a cool head …

When placing your chair and while moving about, we ask that you remember the social distancing guidelines and do not encroach on the space of others.

Feel free to bring your own food and beverages or you can purchase them at the Culver’s.

Check-in at 8:30 am

Driver’s Meeting at 8:45 am

Circle K / Shell Station
17125 East Shea Boulevard

Show Low Beat the Heat Fun Run

by Paul Koreneff

Beat the heat! Roadrunner BMW CCA will escape to higher altitudes for a day trip, with a nice early start to get out of the valley before we broil. We will drive as a group up to Show Low (6345’) for lunch. Afterwards, folks can explore the area on their own or drive back to Phoenix using their choice of routes.

Note the earlier than usual Check-in time – so that we truly can Beat the Heat!

Check-in at 7:00am;

Driver’s Meeting at 7:15am:

Chevron Fuel Station
3265 S Goldfield Rd
Apache Junction, AZ 85219

The group will depart, caravan style, promptly at 7:30am and drive northeast up beautiful US-60 until reaching Show Low at around 10:30am. This is about 140 miles. There will be a drive leader, as well as a secondary group coordinator, to keep the group together and help ensure safe travels for our members and the general public.

We have a reserved room for brunch/lunch at Sweetheart’s Cafe.

For the drive home, everyone is on his/her own. The fastest way home is via I-60. A slower, more scenic route is along the Mogollon Rim and the Tonto National Forest, using AZ-260 and then AZ-87; this route is around 170 miles.

Of note is that there is a Culver’s in Payson that some members find difficult to drive by.

Please RSVP no later than July 31st below in order to reserve your spot for the drive and be sure to include first names for all attendees so we can prepare name tags. Wait a minute after clicking once on the Confirm RSVP button to allow the system time to process your request – you will be transferred to a new web page.
